Jackson

I worked Jackson for about an hour. First we did some liberty stuff. He is getting very good at doing the obeisance! His balancè is getting better. He would offer it sometimes, but it would just be shifting from one foot to the other. I have been trying to get him to do it but with more energy. Today he seemed to want to do it, so I tried to encourage him to move from foot to foot but with more upward energy. He seems to get it!

Then we did some riding. He was better and worse today. He didn’t really toss his head more than a couple of times, but he didn’t have a great left lead canter today. His canter to the right was a little better after I warmed him up. Several times he put his head way down and blew out, like he was starting to relax. I really rewarded these times.

We practiced doing the half pass and he had moments where he did really well. We still need to practice a lot more, but for me it is so neat to see how we can accomplish these things.

I asked Jackson for a really brief passage while riding as I wanted to see if it looked any better.
