I got Jackson out for about an hour. We did
some work on the bow and the obeisance. He
wanted to lay down a couple of times. I
wanted to try to teach him a new trick. I am
going to try to teach him to go touch the
barrel on command and then come back. He
figured out to touch the barrel pretty
quickly. He even started to come back after
touching it. We will see how he does after a
week or two.
We did some free lunging and he was doing
pretty well. I then lunged him with the
bitless bridle. I needed to work on his
canter. He likes to toss his head when he
canters. I would click and reward when he
would do a nice calm canter. He seemed to
get the idea pretty quickly.
I rode him bareback for a little bit. We did
a little work on the half pass to the left
and right. He is doing it pretty well at the
walk. We did some work on the canter, trying
to get him to canter nicely. By the end, he
was cantering much nicer. He will drop his
head while cantering and I let him if he
seems relaxed.
Then we practiced sitting on the hay bales.
He did great. He even did it on his own. I
just have to remember to get his tail out of
the way.
