I got Jackson and Sadeem out and just played
with them in the yard. We messed around for
about an hour.
Jackson
I played mostly with Jackson. It was just
stuff like, Ramener, Pose, obeisance, and
bow. We like to offer the bow whenever I am
on his right side. His pose is coming along
really well! I do it completely at liberty.
I stand on his left side, lift the whip
toward his hindquarters (his cue to do the
GOTM), and then I hold my fist by his
withers (his cue to do the Ramener). I only
reward him if he holds the GOTM and has his
nose vertical or in front of the vertical.
When I first taught it, of course I rewarded
him even when his head was pretty low, but
now he is holding it higher and higher.
It is so fun now! You can see the muscles in
has back start to lift up. He even is
starting to use the muscles right behind his
withers.
He also laid down several times. He likes
doing that.
Sadeem
Sadeem didn’t do too much. I worked on
training him not to rear. I wave my arms,
hold the whip up, and reward him when he
stands still while I do those things. He is
able to hold the rear better than Jackson
ever did! It is amazing!
He also likes to offer lots of Jambettes!
Also, at one point where Jackson kept
bowing, I saw Sadeem start to circle with
his nose to the ground. He was right next to
me so I was able to click and reward right
when he lay down. Hopefully, this will lead
to him doing it on cue one day. He also
offered a small park out a couple of times.
I think it was on accident, though.
