Today, I rode Jackson again. I started out with endo
tapping him on the ground while standing still. Then
we did it at the walk, still on the ground. Then I
did it under saddle for a little bit at the walk. He
was starting to get it quite a bit.
Then I did the work on shoulder in, half pass,
renvers, and travers. I did as a couple ladies on
the JP's Art of Training forum suggested. I
worked at looking where I was going, at keeping my
seat more in the middle of the saddle, making sure
my back and hips where loose, and I also switched to
riding with a flat nylon halter with reins. He did
very well! I was careful to only ask for a small
amount of angle and only a few steps at a time, then
I would do a small circle and try for a few more
steps. I was very pleased with how he did.
Then I went to canter him just a bit. I was amazed!
His canter was so much more relaxed than I have felt
in a long time! Score 1 (or maybe 1000) for endo-tapping!
What a difference. He was loping with his head
rather low, so I let him. Lots of fun.
Just thought I would note how just endo tapping at
the walk under saddle once, helped his canter.
