I got Jackson out for about an hour today.
My little brother, Timothy (he is 5), wanted
to practice being a jockey. He was looking
at my horse book and saw the jockey picture.
So he got his leather gloves, cowboy boots,
bike helmet, and vest and wanted to go for a
ride. He is a little scared of horses being
near him, but he is pretty comfortable on a
pokey horse.
So I got Jackson out, and after a little
liberty work (more about that later), he
rode Jackson. Jackson was perfect. He went
into his sleepy mode. You know, dragging his
feet and all that. So after I led Jackson
around for a little bit, I showed Timothy
how to turn and stop Jackson. Also how to
get Jackson going. Jackson was great about
that. Timothy would just be able to kind of
tap Jacksons belly in the middle, but
Jackson would start walking. It was funny to
see my brother holding on to the horn with
one hand and holding the reins in the other.
But he did great!
The liberty work was mostly continuing our
balance’ work from yesterday. Jackson had
some really nice moments! It was fun.
Then we did some bridleless. The fun parts
were his spin and when he just hopped up on
the pedestal when I asked him.
