Session 1: I worked with Jackson for about 45 minutes. First I did some liberty work in the round pen. He had a few really nice steps of the balance’! We have been working on that intermittently. He has been holding his rears for longer and longer. I hope that we can get a video soon.

Then I saddle him up. I just wanted to work on a couple of easy things. I practiced backing around some barrels. I did a little work on the passage as I had my brother there to watch and give me info. He did well at that.

Then, for the exciting part, I asked him to do a flying lead change over a ground pole. The first time, I asked for a change from left to right. He slowed down to a trot and then changed, but he changed promptly. Then I asked for a change from right to left over the ground pole and he did it! I stopped right after that.

Session 2: I took Jackson over to friends who have a small indoor arena with some trail obstacles there. Jackson loved the deep sand… meaning… he liked lying down and rolling! They had a bridge, tarp, poles, and a few other things. They also had a pretty big ball. I had fun working with Jackson with the ball.

Then I hopped on and did some work along the rail and in the corners. The first time I went over the bridge, Jackson easily took it at a trot! He did just super. He seemed to like chasing the ball a bit.
